How To Setup Email On Android Phone or Tablet

Android does not offer a generic email client and instead encourages you to use an Email client of your liking.  If you are looking for an app for email you can use the My EarthLink app or add your EarthLink email to the Gmail app included on most Android devices.  Alternatively there are several email applications in the Play store. 

You can download the My EarthLink app from the Google Play store and sign in with your EarthLink email address and password.  No other settings are needed. 

Gmail App

  1. Open the Gmail App
  2. Click your Profile Icon on the top right
  3. Click the Add Another Account option
  4. Select the Other option
  5. Enter your EarthLink email address and click Next
  6. Select the Personal IMAP option
  7. Enter your Password and click Next (remember that passwords are case sensitive.
  8. Enter imap.earthlink.net in the Incoming Server settings box and click Next.
  9. Enter smtpauth.earthlink.net in the SMTP Server settings box and click Next.
  10. Review the Account Options settings and click Next.
  11. Add the name you want people to see when you send an email to the Your Name box and click Next. 

Manual Setup of Third Party Email Apps

Most email clients will only need your email address and password to setup access to your email.  However, some clients may ask for additional settings.  Here are default EarthLink email settings.  These settings will work for @earthlink.net, @mindspring.com or any other EarthLink domain email address.
