Open the Norton 360 software you have installed on your computer and click the Scan menu.  You can then select from a Smart, Quick or Full Scan.  Smart scans look at commonly infected areas.  A Quick scan will go a bit more in-depth and a Full Scan will scan every file on your computer

What is Dark Web Monitoring?

There are three layers to the internet as we know it. The Surface Web are all the free to access sites you know like EarthLink, Google, or Amazon.  This webpage you are on right now is part of the Surface Web.  Next there is the Deep Web where you are required to use a specific URL or login to access financial, legal or medical records.  Below the legal and commonly used Surface and Deep web levels is what is known as the Dark Web.  While not all parts of the Dark Web are necessarily bad, the often unregulated use of encrypted sites and private communication used on the Dark Web make it an easily abused place to sell illegal items or information such as stolen credentials or personal information that could be used to steal access to someone's logins or their identity.

Dark Web Monitoring, which is provided by all levels of EarthLink Business Secure for up to 5 employees of your company, allows you to enter some key information about yourself that Norton will use to continually scan the Dark Web for your information being offered.  Dark Web Monitoring can let you know if your login information is suddenly available on the Dark Web.  Common things that are discovered are logins for websites you use that have been compromised at some point.  Dark Web Monitoring alerts will let you know you need to change your passwords and play close attention to your identity.  Keep in mind Dark Web Monitoring is only an alert system and does not offer expert or legal protections.

I have free virus protection from someone else, do I need Business Secure?

Free solutions often only offer the lowest levels of protections and may only protect you from the most basic of risks.  EarthLink Business Secure is powered by Norton 360 and provides a host of features and solutions to keep you protected that go beyond just basic virus scanning.  Norton 360 includes advanced real-time threat protection, virus protection, malware protection, ransomware protection, phishing protection, smart firewall to block attempted malicious in or outbound connections to/from your device,  parental controls, VPN and even Cloud Based encrypted backup for your important files so you have the extra assurance of knowing that your most important files are safe and sound should anything ever happen to your computer.

I don't browse risky sites, why would I need virus protection?

Risks do not always come solely from browsing risky websites.  Email attachments are still a driving reason for virus spread.  Also low quality ads on websites could link to compromised webpages that may try and install malware on your computer.  Business Secure protects you from all the different avenues malware could make it on your system even scanning new storage devices attached by USB to be sure they do not have malicious software on them.
