Installation Setup:


Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the fiber box (ONT) and the other into the blue WAN port on the EarthLink/ZyXEL EX2210 router.


Network Username and Password:

Locate sticker on rear of Modem/Router

SSID is the Username

Wireless Key is the Password

Light Status: 


Six LED lights on the front of the router:

  1. Power:

On

The device is receiving power and ready for use.

Blinking

The device is self-testing.

Red

On

The device detected an error while self-testing, or there is a device malfunction.

Blinking

The device is upgrading firmware.

Off

The device is not receiving power. Make sure the power button on the rear of the device is On.


  1. DSL/Ethernet WAN:

The VDSL/ ADSL link is up.

Slow Blinking

The device is looking for an ADSL link.

Fast Blinking

The device is initializing the ADSL link.


  1. Internet:

Your device has a WAN IP address (either static or assigned by a DHCP server), PPP negotiation was successfully completed (if used) and the DSL connection is up.


Blinking

The device is sending or receiving IP traffic.


Off

There is no Internet connection, or the gateway is in bridged mode.


Red

On

The device attempted to make an IP connection but failed. Possible causes are no response from a DHCP server, no PPPoE response, PPPoE authentication failed.



  1. LAN 1-4/Ethernet: Green/On means that there is a device connected to one of the LAN ports on the back of the device, and blinking means the device is in use/passing traffic.

The device has a successful 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connection with a device on the Local Area Network (LAN).

Blinking

The device is sending or receiving data to/from the LAN at 10/100/1000 Mbps.

There are no devices connected to any of the LAN ports on the back of the device.

The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is activated.

The device is communicating with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi clients.

The link is down or disabled.

The device is setting up a WPS connection with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi client.


  1. 5G:

The 5 GHz Wi-Fi network is activated.

The device is communicating with 5 GHz Wi-Fi clients.

The link is down or disabled.

The device is setting up a WPS connection with a 5 GHz Wi-Fi client.



Advanced Settings: 


To access the router’s interface and make changes to settings, the customer needs to be connected to the router’s network. They can do so either via Wi-Fi or hardwired via an Ethernet cable. 


  1. Connect to router either by hardwiring or wirelessly. Note that the internet does not need to be functioning to do this task
  2. Open Internet browser
  3. Enter 192.168.1.1 into address bar, click enter

Note: the customer can change languages in upper right corner

After entering the User Name and Login Password, the browser will redirect the customer to the home page of the router. Each of below tiles, when clicking the orange arrow, will bring you to another page to view/adjust the settings:

Connectivity: 


This screen shows you which devices are connected to the network. The left WiFi menu shows which devices are connected wirelessly, the right Wired menu displays all the devices connected via Ethernet:

WiFi Settings: 


On the main tile home page, the customer can toggle on/off the 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. They can also view the network passwords here. They can “click to enlarge” so they can use the QR code to connect any device that has a camera.

After clicking on the arrow: 


A user can: 

  • Change the name and password of their Wireless Network
  • Customers can have the router create a password
  • Passwords will be judged as weak vs. strong
  • Hide WiFi network name
  • Allows customers to hide their network so no one can attempt to access it


Any changes should be “Saved”, and may result in the router restarting. If the router doesn’t restart in three minutes, have the customer refresh their browser.

Parental Control:


Customers can restrict individual devices from accessing the network at certain timeframes:

They can toggle the first option to On, then click Add more Profiles:

To create a profile, they can name it on the left, then click the device they want to restrict on the right, then click Next:

On the left, it shows the schedule, and the customer needs to move the toggle next to Active to activate it, then remember to click Save.
