Authenticator App Support Added
You can now add your favorite Authenticator as a means of Mult-Factor Authentication when logging into WebMail or MyAccount. Use your favorite Authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator to keep your EarthLink Email safter than ever.
To access the Authenticator Setup, log into WebMail, click on Preferences and go to the Account security tab. Turn on Authenticate With App and follow the directions to setup your app of choice, then just click Save to activate.
Once activated, you
will need to enter the code shown in your Authenticator app for that account
every time you login to WebMail.
Email Forwarding Settings Changes
We have made a few minor changes to Email Forwarding to help protect your account. Found in WebMail, Preferences, and under the General Tab, you can turn on Forwarding by clicking the On option. You will then need to enter an email address to forward to and click the Enable Forwarding button. If you would like to keep a copy of forwarded email in that address’ Inbox as well, click the Keep Sent Copy.
Once you click
the Save option, we will send a Text Message to the phone number on your
account to verify your identity in order to protect your account.
Enter the pin number you receive
via text message to confirm you changes and activate Email Forwarding.
Manage Multiple Email Addresses’ Security Settings
When logged in with your primary email address, you can now manage Account Security settings for all your secondary addresses under the Preferences - Account Security tab. Just use the drop down to select the address you want to see. You must be logged in with your Primary email address to access this feature in WebMail or MyAccount.
EarthLink WebMail now rolling out an option to automatically save a draft of the message you are typing so you do not lose your work. The Auto Save to Draft process makes a copy of your unsent message once every 10 minutes and saves it to the Draft folder. Should you be disconnected, all you will need to do is sign back into WebMail and click the compose button or go to the Drafts folder to restore your progress.
This feature will be rolled out to all customers over the course of April and May 2023. Auto Save will be turned on by default, but if you want to disable it, you can simply go to Preferences, Sending & Replying, and choose the Off option under Auto-Save.
You can now safely and easily unsubscribe from newsletters and commercial mailing lists simply by clicking the Unsubscribe link in WebMail. Safe Unsubscribe detects unsubscribe information in commercial emails and automatically handles requesting the sender remove your email from their mailing lists.
The Unsubscribe link can be found at the end of the From: line at the top of any email.
MFA
adds an additional layer of security to your account when logging into WebMail
or MyAccount. When enabled, in addition to entering your password you will be
presented with a security question that must be answered before completing your
login. Security questions must be setup
under the Change Security Questions section (found on the same page)
before you can use MFA.
To
enable MFA, complete your security questions at the bottom of the page and then
toggle the switch on the MFA option you would like to use. Then be sure to click Save at the bottom of
the page.
Once
you have activated MFA, after logging in with your email address and password
you will need to answer a MFA challenge before you can access your Account.
You
may now use the Account Security question to update your email password. Simply
confirm your Current Password and then enter in and confirm the New Password
and save. This change is only for the
email address you are currently logged into in WebMail.
With Retry-Send, EarthLink will now hold on to your sent
email and attempt to send it with no more interaction needed from you. The only requirement is that you keep your
browser open on the WebMail page till the message sends successfully. You will
briefly see the following message and then a spinning icon in the middle of the
page while WebMail attempts to resend your email.
Email forwarding will now require verification either through a text message to your mobile device on file or via a reCAPTCHA confirmation process. This change is being introduced to provide extra security to protect your account from malicious use.
When enabling, disabling, or making any changes to Email Forwarding in WebMail, you will receive a prompt, after clicking Save, to send a verification code to your mobile device. This code will contain a PIN that you will need to enter into WebMail in order to access the Email Forwarding settings. If you do not have a Mobile/Cell device on file, you will receive a reCAPTCHA prompt that you will need to complete.
To Send the Code, click the Send Code button.
You will then have two minutes to input the PIN number sent
to your mobile device. If you are not
able to input the PIN within two minutes, you can click the Resend SMS button
to have a new PIN sent to you.
Once the PIN is accepted, your changes will be saved.
