Control Center How to update Zone Files

The DNS Manager Application allows you to make changes to your zone files and name servers.

  1. Login to the Control Center - control.earthlink.net
  2. Under the Advanced Tools section, these applications will be available

Add an A Record

To add an A record to your domain, login to the Control Centercontrol.earthlink.net

Under the Advanced Tools section, select the DNS Manager Application

  1. Launch the DNS Manager Application
  2. Click Start to begin. The application will open in a new window
  3. Click on Add record and it will allow you to Add the details of your record
    • For Name: Field will be greyed out for default A record
    • For Type: choose IN A from the drop down menu
    • For Value: enter your A record address

Once you've entered your record details, please click on Apply. Your changes will take effect in approximately twenty-four (24) hours.

Add a MX Record

To add a MX Record to your domain, login to the Control Centercontrol.earthlink.net

Under the Advanced Tools section, select the DNS Manager Application

  1. Launch the DNS Manager Application
  2. Click Start to begin. The application will open in a new window
  3. Click on Add record and it will allow you to add the details of your record
    • For Name: Leave blank
    • For Type: Choose IN MX from drop down menu
    • For Value: Enter desired MX record with priority – such as 10 mx1c38.carrierzone.com

Once you've entered your record details, please click on Apply. Your changes will take effect in approximately twenty-four (24) hours.

Add a CNAME

To add a CNAME Record to your domain, login to the Control Centercontrol.earthlink.net

Under the Advanced Tools section, select the DNS Manager Application

  1. Launch the DNS Manager Application
  2. Click Start to begin. The application will open in a new window
  3. Click on Add record and it will allow you to add the details of your record
    • For Name: Type the name for your CName record
    • For Type: Choose IN CNAME
    • For Value: Type the value for your CNAME record

Once you've entered your record details, please click on Apply. Your changes will take effect in approximately twenty-four (24) hours.

Add a Name Server

To add a name server for your domain, login to the Control Centercontrol.earthlink.net

Under the Advanced Tools section, select the DNS Manager Application. You will be able to update name servers with the following steps:

  1. Launch DNR Manager Application
  2. Click Start to begin. The application will open in a new window
  3. Click on Manage Domain Name
  4. Select the Domain Names tab
  5. You must unlock the domain. To unlock the domain, uncheck the check box under lock status column for the corresponding domain. Scroll down and click on Apply. You'll get the following confirmation message:
  6. In the Domain Names tab you will find the list of domains managed by you. Check the domain for which you desire to update the Name server.
  7. Click on Update Name Servers tab and enter the name server details

Once you've entered your record details, please click on Apply. Your changes will take effect in approximately twenty-four (24) hours.
