Your extender's light tells you
how strong its connection is to your main router. A slow-blinking or
"breathing" white light means it's connected, but the signal it's
picking up from your router is weak. A blinking orange light means it hasn't connected
yet.
• Solid white — strong connection, you're all set.
• Breathing/pulsing white — connected, but signal is weak.
•
Blinking orange — not yet connected to your router.
Place it about halfway between your router and the area where you need better WiFi. If you put it too far from the router, it won't have a strong signal to extend. A good way to find the right spot:
• Plug the extender into an outlet closer to your router.
• Check the light — if it's not solid white, move it a little closer and check again.
•
Once you see a solid white light, that's the best spot
for it.
A few common things can get in the way:
• Being 3–6 feet or closer to cordless phones, microwaves, or baby monitors.
• Thick materials between the extender and your router, like metal doors, mirrors, file cabinets, brick, or concrete walls.
•
Drywall and open doorways cause little to no
interference, so those are fine.
• Unplug the extender, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
• Restart your main router too, then give the extender a minute to reconnect.
•
Run the setup again and try a spot closer to the
router, then gradually move it out until the light is strong.
Most weak-signal issues are
fixed by repositioning or a reset, so that's always worth trying first. But if
you've tried the steps above — including placing it right next to your router —
and the signal is still weak, or the device won't power on or reconnect at all,
that usually points to a hardware issue rather than placement. In that case,
